Property EI Resolved Status

River Range Stud has now been reassessed for it's Equine Influenza Status from "infected" to "resolved". This means that with permits we can now bring vaccinated or resolved mares to the stud and hopefully get our stallions to the vets for collection when needed.

All horses have come through the EI infection without any obvious side effects although we are working them again they are being taken very slowly to ensure we don't do any damage to lungs etc.

River Range is on the look out for a new potential stallion. We are looking for a stallion quality Hanoverian cross colt. If you have or know of any good stallion quality colts for sale please let us know.

EI arrives at River Range Stud

Well it obviously was our turn. On Sunday 14 October the first of our horses showed the signs of the Equine Influenza infection. Within 3-4 days it has spread to all the horses on the property.

As of Oct 31 the horses seem to be on the mend. Most symptoms have been relatively minor and all the horses have pulled through ok, including our pregnant mares the first of which is due to foal 21 November. The bonus from this is that all the new foals will now be born with an EI immunity.

Stallions available for breeding until end March 2008

With the current EI movement lockdown preventing mares from being able to visit the stud for breeding we will extend the availability of our stallions for service until end of March 2008. This will hopefully give plenty of opportunity for get mares in foal once the movement ban has been lifted in Queensland and NSW.

In the meantime we do still have a good supply of frozen semen for Northern Classic which can be transported at any time.

IHB Rio de Janero babies

We are very pleased to have our first Rio foal on the ground now. This foal is out of River Range Coralanne, a full sister to Qld Grand Prix horse, Liaison, ridden by Claire Wallace. Coralanne is by Northern Classic out of one of our original thoroughbred mares Rare Coral.

The foal is a beautiful bay filly, 'Rivers Rarity' (pic left), who is developing into quite the little powerhouse.

IHB Rio de Janero produced 4 foals for his first season, all are fillies, all are bay, and all have a white star on their face, and of course all are absolutely beautiful.
